@ Devil's Advocate
It is true that the BRIC countries (and others) could have mounted a more effective opposition, as was pointed out in the post.
It is true that Russia, China and India are not above reproach in other spheres.
It is not true that Brazil -- the 5th largest country in the world, the largest in S. America -- "isn't even important."
That NATO "had to intervene" is exactly what is being doubted here, as is the notion that it is justified in laying claim to countries in N. Africa because they are "in it's backyard."
2,000 people died, perhaps, but that is hardly a unique circumstance -- a comparable number were killed in the Israeli assault on Gaza at the end of 2008, for example, but that did not motivate a NATO intervention.
If you want to know where my "friends" "comes up" with their reasoning, you can follow the links that i provide to the articles discussed -- that should be a good start, although you would have to do a fair amount of reading of history also.
It is not true that the "U.S. will bomb you ass whether you got Nukes and Gas or Not". Having nuclear weapons has proven to be an effective deterrent to U.S. attack (N. Korea), and giving up WMDs is a path toward inviting U.S. attack (Iraq, Libya).
I am from Earth, and I am surprised that Satan is not able to send a more coherent or effective advocate.

At Vardarajan's site - whom you quote here - he has posted a comment I wrote some time ago and I would like to reproduce it here because it relates to what you (we) do as "westerners". Thank you for checking out the piece at Reality, One Bite at a Time, S. Vardarajan's blog.

I think it serves to synthesize the discussion we have been having.

To S. Varadarajan
Mr. Varadarajan:

Remarkable piece here.

You have finally put into terms what has been coming to bear and, more importantly, have expressed it with journalistic accuracy rather than Nationalist prejudice. I really admire your effort. It reminds me of Cesaire Aime writing in Europe in 1950.

There has been a lack of courage among journalists in Europe and the USA. I long for them to read your work which - situated as it is - contains a degree of distance from the points of conflict, while being informed with the best of intelligence from Europe/USA (wikileaks and the net in general) and that of India/South Asia as a result of your work as a journalist. You can say things they know to be true but are unable to write themselves.

It is exceptionally difficult apparently for journalists in "the West" to get this distance and it is perhaps the most important effort. I, for one, blame media consolidation and corporate influence. I miss great writing.

Thank you, again, for your remarkable work, a pathway leading out of the pseudo-historical journalism that dominates the spectrum.

Oh Yea Bric - a - Brack!?! They could have voted down the dish when it came in front of the UN, but they abstained, like bitches.

And then Russia turned around and killed everyone in Kyzickmuslimstan
China clamped down on Taiwan and Tibet
India shook hands with America and vowed to beat up more Pakis

And Brazil isn't even important.

NATO had to intervene in shit happening in it's backyard and more than 2,000 bitches died, so that's apparently the limit for someone to step in.

I'd also like to now where everyone of your "Friends" comes up with thier reasoning? I mean USA will bomb your ass whether you got Nukes and Gas or Not, if you're being a dick and ruin public opinion then the Motherfucking USA is gonna bomb your ass.

What's wrong with that. IT costs money to bomb your ass, so we're gonna take some spoils.

What fucking planet are you from?
